A lengthy hearing this week on proposed regulations of one-room rentals, like those advertised on Airbnb.com, may push City Commission to let homeowners rent two rooms instead.

Multiple commissioners said after the Tuesday, Aug. 12, hearing that they may not support restricting Airbnb hosts to one room.

“Rooms are irrelevant,” said First Ward City Commissioner Dave Shaffer, who thinks allowing up to four unrelated adults – like long-term rentals – is a better way to go.
