Portland Proposes Expanding airbnb Licensing to Apartments Amidst Concern Over Enforcement

Airbnb law expanding, but who follows it now? Most Airbnb Portland renters are not following current rules

Wednesday, council discussed a motion to allow apartment and condominium dwellers to rent through Airbnb at a raucous public hearing, while earlier this year, council amended bylaws to allow residents living in houses the right to short-term rentals through Airbnb and similar sites.

Some people who attended the public hearing expressed concern current rules are being ignored, and that new laws would be too. Out of more than 1600 Airbnb listings in Portland, only 73 applications have been filled out.
